Smart Cities

CHALLENGE

Smart Cities

$1 MILLION (Prize amount to be confirmed. Announcement expected for next year)

A smart city is an urban area that uses different types of electronic methods and sensors to collect data. Insights gained from that data are used to manage assets, resources and services efficiently; in return, that data is used to improve the operations across the city. This includes data collected from citizens, devices, buildings and assets that is then processed and analyzed to monitor and manage traffic and transportation systems, power plants, utilities, water supply networks, waste, crime detection, information systems, schools, libraries, hospitals, and other community services.

The smart city concept integrates information and communication technology (ICT), and various physical devices connected to the IoT network to optimize the efficiency of city operations and services and connect to citizens.

In recent years several cities are adopting smart city technologies to deal with local problems and conditions to face the factors mentioned above.

While still under development and diffusion smart city technologies are improving city life conditions , where adopted, including quality of life to their citizens by advanced services.

We must advance and improve such technologies , not only to face local problems but also to contribute to solve global challenges, social and environmental, through reducing the factors that favors such conditions.

Smart Cities

The solution can include:

This competition calls for advanced policies, strategies, sensors, equipment, software and hardware, apps and any other component that could improve citizens utilization of smart city technologies, simplifying their utilization and allowing the entire population to have access to advanced services.

Proposal:

The proposals must be in written form(max 40 pages) including drawings, charts and diagrams. If needed a second phase could be considered for apps or other equipment proposal prototypes and experiments.
